Abstract:
An exhaust gas turbocharger for an internal combustion engine, with components redesigned to be simple in shape and economical to produce without however showing any noticeable reduction in performance as compared to turbochargers constructed with components of conventional design. The turbocharger is provided with an airfoil (1) which, relative to the direction of flow of the exhaust gas, has a leading surface, a trailing surface, and first and second major surfaces, wherein the first and second major surfaces are parallel to each other, and wherein the angle of the trailing surface is about 15 DEG to about 70 DEG relative to one of the major surfaces and, accordingly, about 165 DEG to about 110 DEG , preferably about 163 DEG to about 140 DEG , most preferably about 160 DEG relative to the other, parallel major surface.
