Abstract:
An elevator load bearing belt assembly (40) includes a plurality of cords (42) within a jacket (44) comprising a waxless polyurethane. The cords (42) are spaced from an exterior surface (46,48) on the jacket (44) such that the spacing remains generally constant along the length of the belt (40). The jacket (44) has a smooth, uninterrupted exterior surface for contacting sheaves as the belt (40) moves in the elevator system. The inventive belt assembly (40) minimizes the possibility for generating an annoying, audible sound and vibration during elevator operation.
