Dissymmetrical cationic polyazo derivatives (I) (where the electrical neutrality of (I) is ensured by means of one or more cosmetic anions) are new. Dissymmetrical cationic polyazo derivatives (I) of formula (Dye1-L-Dye2) (where the electrical neutrality of (I) is ensured by means of one or more cosmetic anions) are new. Dye1 : W 1-N=N-(W 2-N=N) n-W 3-a-1 (where -a-1 links W 3to the linker L); Dye 2 : W 1-N=N-W 2-N=N-W 3-a-1 (where a-1 = links W 3to the linker L); W 1heteroaromatic radicals of pyrazolium ion of formula (IIa), pyridinium ion of formula (IIb), imidazolium ion of formula (IIc); W 2carbon-based aromatic group phenyl moiety of formula (III); W 3carbon-based aromatic group phenyl moiety of formula (IV); L : 1-60C (preferably 2-20C hydrocarbon-based chain (optionally saturated, cyclic, heteroaromatic, bearing at least one cationic charge, substituted and interrupted with at least one hetero atom or group comprising at least one hetero atom (preferably O, N or S)), where L is terminated at one and/or the other of its ends with at least one hetero atom or group comprising at least one hetero atom (preferably O, N or S); R 11-16C hydrocarbon-based chain (optionally branched, saturated, aromatic and substituted), one or more 3-7 membered carbon-based rings (optionally interrupted by hetero atoms of O, N or S), where R 1is directly attached to the nitrogen atom (quaternized or non-quaternized) of the heteroaromatic ring via a carbon atom); R 2-R-4 : 1-16C hydrocarbon-based chain (optionally branched, saturated, aromatic and substituted), one or more 3-6 membered carbon-based rings (optionally interrupted by hetero atoms or with one or more groups bearing at least one hetero atom (preferably O or N)), OH, 1-4C alkoxy, 2-4C (poly)hydroxyalkoxy group, alkoxycarbonyl group (RO-CO-), an alkylcarbonyloxy radical (RCO-O-), amino group (optionally substituted by 1-4C alkyl radicals and optionally bearing at least one hydroxyl group, the two alkyl radicals possibly forming, with the nitrogen atom to which they are attached, a 5-6 membered heterocycle optionally bearing another hetero atom nitrogen, e.g. O or S), alkylcarbonylamino group (RCO-NR-), a carbamoyl group ((R) 2N-CO), (where R, R-a are H or 1-4C alkyl radical), a ureido group ((R) 2N-CO-NR-a-), sulfonamide group ((R) 2N-SO 2-), an alkylsulfonylamino group (RSO 2-NR-a-), a guanidinium group ((R-a) 2N-C(=NH 2+>)-NR-), NO 2, CN, halo (preferably Cl or F), two radicals R 2or two radicals R 3or two radicals R 4, borne by adjacent carbon atoms, can form, with the carbon atom to which each is attached, a fused ring; R : 1-4C alkyl radical; m, m-1, m-2 : 0-4; n : 0-1; and e : 0-2. Provided that: (A) where L is not diazo, NO 2, nitroso or peroxide groups; (B) R 1is not NO 2, nitroso, peroxide or diazo bonds; (C) the bond a derived from formula IIa-IIc III or IV links the groups W 1-W 3to the azo group; (D) in the case of formulae IIa and IIc and when two radicals R 2borne by two adjacent carbon atoms form an aromatic ring, the bond a may link the group W 1to the azo group via the aromatic ring; and (E) the bond a-1 derived from formula IV links the group W 3to the linker L. Independent claims are also included for: (1) a dye composition (II) (in a medium suitable for dyeing keratin fibres, as direct dye) comprising, (I); (2) a process for dyeing keratin fibres, comprising placing (II) in contact with the wet or dry fibres, to obtain the desired effect; and (3) multi-compartment device in which a first compartment contains (II) and a second compartment contains an oxidizing composition.
