Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To transport sheets to a subsequent processing unit without disturbing the alignment state of the accumulated sheets.SOLUTION: An intermediate transport device 200 comprises: an accumulation unit 220 accumulating one or more sheets transported from an upstream side; a first alignment portion 230 and a second alignment portion 240 aligning both ends of the sheets accumulated in the accumulation unit in a sheet transport direction with those in a width direction orthogonal to the sheet transport direction; a sheet discharge unit 250 that includes a pair of upper and lower guide plates 251 and 252, and that discharges the sheets accumulated in the accumulation unit to an outside of the accumulation unit via a gap between the paired guide plates; a drive mechanism adjusting a width of the gap by driving the paired guide plates; and an intermediate transport control unit driving the drive mechanism according to a predetermined condition, and switching the width of the gap between the paired guide plates at least over between two levels.
