PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a freezer which has a refrigerant storage container provided between a heat source side heat exchanger and a usage side heat exchanger, temporarily switches heating operation into cooling operation thereby performing defrosting, and prevents liquid compression of a compressor during defrosting thereby achieving high reliability.SOLUTION: An air conditioner using R32 as a refrigerant includes: a compressor; an indoor heat exchanger; an outdoor heat exchanger; an expansion valve; a four-way selector valve; a receiver which is installed at the downstream side of the indoor heat exchanger and the upstream side of the outdoor heat exchanger in a refrigerant flow direction during air heating operation; a regulating valve provided at a bypass flow passage connecting the receiver with a suction flow passage of the compressor; and a control section which controls the opening and closing of the regulating valve. The control section opens the regulating valve during heating operation. When the defrosting is performed, the control part performs first control for closing the regulating valve before the four-way selector valve switches the air heating cycle state into the cooling cycle state and then performs second control for opening the regulating valve.
