Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the cooling performance of a water-cooled EGR cooler.SOLUTION: An exhaust manifold 4 and a catalyst case 7 connected thereto are covered at their front sides with a metal-plate insulator 32. To the lower end of the catalyst case 7, an EGR gas pipeline 18 is connected to be lined with the catalyst case 7. In the EGR gas pipeline 18, an EGR cooler 17 is provided. The insulator 32 is opened backward to cover the catalyst case 7, and a right end 32a thereof extends to a site close to the EGR cooler 17. Travel wind coming to a site of the right half of the catalyst case 7 is collected by a wind direction guide part 38 of the insulator 32 to collide with the EGR cooler 17 at its lateral side, thus improving the cooling performance of the EGR cooler 17 and EGR gas.
