PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an organic thin film transistor high in carrier mobility.SOLUTION: An organic thin film transistor includes a compound represented by the following formula in a semiconductor active layer (Xand Xrepresent NR, an O atom or an S atom; Arepresents CRor an N atom; Arepresents CRor an N atom; Rrepresents a hydrogen atom, an alkyl group, an alkenyl group, an alkynyl group or an acyl group; R-Reach independently represent a hydrogen atom or a substituent and at least one of R-Ris a substituent represented by -L-R; L represents a divalent coupling group with a specified structure; and R represents an alkyl group, a cyano group, a vinyl group, an ethynyl group, an oxyethylene group, an oligo oxyethylene group having a repetition number v of an oxyethylene unit of 2 or more, a siloxane group, an oligosiloxane group having silicon atoms of 2 or more, or a trialkylsilyl group).
