Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide effective methods of treating mitochondrial disorders, such as: Friedreich's ataxia; Leber's hereditary optic neuropathy; mitochondrial myopathy, encephalopathy, lactic acidosis and strokelike episodes (MELAS); and Kearns-Sayre syndrome.SOLUTION: The present invention provides compositions and methods useful in treating or suppressing mitochondrial disorders, such as Friedreich's ataxia; Leber's hereditary optic neuropathy; Kearns-Sayre syndrome; and mitochondrial myopathy, encephalopathy, lactic acidosis and strokelike episodes (MELAS); and in modulating energy biomarkers.SELECTED DRAWING: None
