PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an art for binding a plurality of sheets using adhesive.SOLUTION: A sheet binding device includes an adhesive applying part, a processing tray 102, a first support mechanism, a shutter member, a second support mechanism and a control part. The first support mechanism supports the adhesive applying part so as to be slidable along a guide shaft between an adhesive applying position where adhesive is applied on a sheet surface while pressing the sheet, and a first retraction position retracting to a position not inhibiting sheet loading. The shutter member lies between the adhesive applying part and a sheet to be loaded on the processing tray, and prevents the adhesive from being applied to the sheet from the adhesive applying part. The second support mechanism supports the shutter member between a shielding position lying between the adhesive application part and the sheet and movably supporting the shutter member along the guide shaft toward the sheet surface according to pressure by the adhesive application part, and a second retraction position retracting from the moving trace of the adhesive applying part, so as to rotationally move with the guide shaft as a fulcrum.
