PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vertical shaft pump having a waterdrop mechanism in which a length of the waterdrop pipe is short, waterdrop facility is compact in size, and clogging of foreign materials is hardly produced.SOLUTION: This invention relates to a vertical shaft pump in which a waterdrop valve 9 is installed outside an impeller casing 6, an introduction port 10 and a waterdrop port 11 are arranged near an impeller of the impeller casing, the waterdrop valve is provided with a valve casing 17 and a valve body 18, a bottom part of the valve casing is provided with a discharging port 26 and at the same time a side surface of the valve casing is provided with a water-inlet 20 and a water-outlet 21, the water-inlet and the water-outlet are connected by a pressure feeding pipe 13. The waterdrop port and the water-inlet are connected by the waterdrop pipe 12. Upon starting withdrawal, the valve body is moved upward from the discharging port by pressure water, the valve body closes the water-inlet and the water-outlet. Upon stopping of the withdrawal, biasing force of the pressure water is weakened to cause the valve body to descend to form a space within the valve casing to communicate with the water-inlet and the water-outlet to each other.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
