Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing pentafluoropropane and/or hexafluoro by hydrogen reducing pentafluoropropene and/or hexafluoropropene at high conversion rate and high selectivity.SOLUTION: There is provided a method including a process for contacting a reactant containing pentafluoropropene and/or hexafluoropropene with a carrier hydrogenation catalyst to form a reaction product containing pentafluoropropane and/or hexafluoropropane, where the carrier hydrogenation catalyst a) is alumina of 90 to 99.9 wt.% and at least 90 wt.% of the alumina is alpha-alumina, and b) contains zero value Pd of 0.1 to 10 wt.%.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
