Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image reading device capable of minimizing damage formation on a script incident to jam, while restraining cost increase of the device.SOLUTION: An image reading device includes reading means for reading a script, a transport roller provided on the upstream side of the reading means in a script transport path for transporting the script, and sending the script to a reading position by the reading means, detection means provided between the transport roller and the reading means in the script transport path, and generating a detection signal based on the passage at least of the script tip, and control means for receiving the detection signal and the data read by the reading means, and controlling the transport roller. The control means acquires the form of the script by receiving the read data from the reading means after receiving the detection signal, and selects whether or not drive of the transport roller is stopped based on the form.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 7
