Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a reverse air cycle machine (RACM) thermal management system and method.SOLUTION: An aircraft includes a thermal management system 100 that is configured to cool portions of the aircraft. The thermal management system includes at least one reverse air cycle machine (RACM) 102 mounted on an engine 14 of the aircraft, and a vapor cycle system (VCS) 106 that is configured to cool the portions of the aircraft. The VCS circulates a refrigerant therethrough. A condenser 108 couples the RACM to the VCS. The RACM coupled to the condenser provides a heat sink for the VCS.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
