Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To protect a pedestrian when the pedestrian collides with a central part or an upper part of a windshield that is not protected by a pedestrian protection air bag or a pop-up hood device.SOLUTION: A pedestrian protection device (1) for a vehicle includes a collision information acquisition part (322) for acquiring collision information indicating that a pedestrian collides with a vehicle (100) from a collision detection sensor (13) mounted on the vehicle (100), and a strength reduction instruction part for outputting a strength reduction instruction indicating strength reduction of a windshield (102) of the vehicle (100) to strength reduction devices (11 and 12) disposed in the periphery of the windshield (102) in response to the acquisition of the collision information by the collision information acquisition part (322).SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
