Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a marine propulsion system capable of effectively reducing fuel consumption of a main engine of a marine vessel during waiting for a long time on the water.SOLUTION: The marine propulsion system comprises the propulsion commanding unit operated between a neutral state and propulsion state, a main engine driving a thruster, a clutch lying between the thruster and the main engine, and switched between a connecting state and cut-off state, a motor driving the thruster and a control device controlling the main engine, clutch and motor. The control device stops the main engine as well as switches the clutch to the cut-off state after the propulsion commanding unit is operated from the propulsion state to the neutral state, and then, the control device starts the motor and drives the thruster when the propulsion commanding unit is operated from the neutral state to the propulsion state.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
