Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide: an ionomer-coated catalyst which enables manufacturing a catalyst ink having a low viscosity and a high solid content concentration; a method for manufacturing the ionomer-coated catalyst; and a catalyst ink arranged by use of such ionomer-coated catalyst.SOLUTION: An ionomer-coated catalyst comprises an electrode catalyst, and an ionomer (A) coating a surface of the electrode catalyst; the ionomer (A) is 30% or more in residual percentage R (%). The ionomer-coated catalyst is obtained by: preparing a fluid dispersion containing the electrode catalyst, the ionomer (A), water and as required, alcohol and having a water content of 0.8 or more; drying the fluid dispersion; and performing a thermal treatment on resultant powder at a temperature of 130°C or higher and 200°C or lower. Re-dispersing the ionomer-coated catalyst in a dispersant, a catalyst ink can be obtained.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 8
