PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electric wire protection device capable of protecting an electric wire appropriately.SOLUTION: An electric wire protection device includes a voltage adjustment section for supplying a load with the voltage on the power supply side while adjusting, and a control section having a temperature calculation part for calculating the temperature information of an electric wire from the value of a current flowing through the voltage adjustment section, and bringing the voltage adjustment section into cut-off state based on the temperature information. The control section sets a time constant for use in calculation of the temperature information to a first time constant τs (step S20) while the voltage adjustment section is in the cut-off state (step S10-Yes), and sets a time constant for use in calculation of the temperature information to a second time constant τn (step S30) while the voltage adjustment section is supplying power to the load (step S10-No), where the first time constant is larger than the second time constant, and has a value equal to or larger than the actual time constant of the electric wire, and the second time constant has a value smaller than the actual time constant of the electric wire.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3
