Abstract:
To track a moving subject in a wide range and perform super wide-field imaging, even when the direction of an imaging apparatus is not changed.SOLUTION: The imaging apparatus acquires a plurality of images continuously connected to each other by imaging through a plurality of variable power optical systems 2A to 2H directed in different azimuths. Each of the plurality of variable power optical systems includes a shift optical system 233 capable of performing a shift operation with respect to an optical axis. When it is determined that a moving subject P is included in the angle of view of the first variable power optical system 2A, control means 306 causes the first variable power optical system to perform a variable power operation to a telephoto side and to perform the shift operation, so as to track the subject and further, and causes at least one of the variable power optical systems 2B to 2F different from the first variable power optical system to perform at least one of the variable power operation and the shift operation, so as to compensate the change of the angle of view caused by the variable power operation and the shift operation in the first variable power optical system.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 15
