Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent, in image formation, both fogging after supply and fogging after left standing while reducing adhesion of toner to members present inside an image forming apparatus.SOLUTION: An external additive for toner contains powder of coated silica particles 13 each including a silica particle 131 and a coat layer 132 that covers the silica particle 131. The coat layer 132 contains a polymer including a unit (1) including a ring-unopened oxazoline group and a unit (2) having a phenyl group at the tip of a ring-opened oxazoline group (or a phenyl group having a specific substituent). The amount Mo of the unit (1) included in 1 g of the powder of the coated silica particles 13 and the amount Mf of the unit (2) included in 1 g of the powder of the coated silica particles 13 satisfy the following relational expressions (A) and (B). (A) 0.40 mmol≤Mo≤1.80 mmol; (B) 0.20≤Mf/Mo≤0.70.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
