Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lamp unit that enhances light utilization efficiency when selectively applying light by using a liquid crystal element (liquid crystal device).SOLUTION: A lamp unit 103R (103L) includes a light source 1, a reflection polarizing plate 3 arranged at a position on which light from the light source is incident, a reflecting mirror 6 for reflecting reflected light generated by the reflection polarizing plate to make it incident on the reflection polarizing plate again, a liquid crystal device 4 arranged on the side of a light emitting surface of the reflection polarizing plate, a polarizing plate 5 arranged on the side of a light emitting surface of the liquid crystal device, a projection lens 7 arranged on the side of a light emitting surface of the polarizing plate, and a phase difference plate 8 arranged between the reflection polarizing plate and the reflecting mirror.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
