Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a reciprocating piston engine which can reduce slide resistance between a piston and a cylinder.SOLUTION: A lubricative fluid F is interposed between an internal peripheral face 2A of a cylinder 2 and an external peripheral face of a piston 5, and a hangout part M hanging out to the internal peripheral face 2A side of the cylinder 2 in a cross section along a reciprocation direction of the piston is arranged at the external peripheral face of the piston 5. The hangout part M is constituted so as to include an apex P1 being the most hangout portion and a bottom Q2 arranged at least at a downstream side of the apex P1 in the reciprocation direction of the piston 5, and being a position which is the farthest from the internal peripheral face 2A of the cylinder 2, and so as to be fallen within a range of h2/h1=1.5 to 5.0 when setting a clearance between the internal peripheral face 2A of the cylinder 2 at the apex P1 and itself as a minimum clearance h1, and setting a clearance at the bottom Q2 as a maximum clearance h2.
