Abstract:
To provide a manufacturing method and apparatus of glass for reducing generation of carbon dioxide blister defects in glass manufacturing.SOLUTION: A manufacturing apparatus of glass includes a molten glass conveying vessel having a glass contact surface and a castable refractory part at least partly surrounding the molten glass conveying vessel. The castable refractory contains a zirconia component of at least 96 wt.%, preferably at least 98 wt.%, an inorganic binder, and total carbon less than 1 wt.%. Glass is manufactured at an operation temperature typically higher than 1,450°C, sometimes higher than 1,600°C. An oxidative atmosphere may be supplied to the manufacturing apparatus of glass in glass manufacturing.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
