Abstract:
To provide a glass composition which can be produced by a general-purpose glass production apparatus without requiring a large amount of a rare-earth raw material, has a large Young's modulus and a large crack-resistance load and is suitable for a glass fiber or the like.SOLUTION: There is provided a glass composition which contains, in terms of mol%, 52 to 62% of SiO, 7.5 to 26% of AlO, 15 to 30% of MgO, 0 to 8% of CaO, more than 0% and 1.6% or less of BO, 0 to 3% of LiO and 0 to 0.2% of NaO, where the total percentage content of MgO and CaO is 18 to 35 mol% and a value of AlO/(MgO+CaO) is less than 1.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
