Abstract:
To provide a vertical in-line multi-cylinder engine in which a temperature distribution between multiple cylinder barrels gets closer to uniform conditions.SOLUTION: A cylinder jacket 3 includes a jacket inlet 3a, a split water passage 3b, multiple split outlets, and a heat dissipation water passage 3c for dissipating heat of each cylinder barrel to the engine cooling water 2 introduced from each split outlet. The multiple split outlets include a front split outlet b1 to a front end barrel B1, a rear split outlet b4 to a rear end barrel B4, and intermediate split outlets b2/b3 to intermediate barrels B2/B3 positioned between the front end barrel B1 and the rear end barrel B4, and are arranged so that the jacket inlet 3a may be contained in the all intermediate barrel transverse area E23 positioned beside all intermediate barrels B2/B3 and having the longitudinal length being the same as the longitudinal length from the most front end of the all intermediate barrels B2/B3 to the most rear end.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
