Abstract:
To provide a system and a method for identifying an exceptional charging event of series connected energy storage elements and appropriately responding to the detected exceptional charging event.SOLUTION: In a system 500 for realizing detection and response of an exceptional charging event, an energy environment 505 includes an energy storage system ESS having a plurality of series-connected battery elements, a data acquisition system for determining a series of charge dependence parameters during operation of the energy storage system for each of the plurality of series connected battery elements, and a control system 510 coupled to the data acquisition system and establishing characterizations from the series of charge dependent parameters for each of the battery elements of the plurality of series connected battery elements.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 5
