Abstract:
To provide an optical trapping device with which the diameter of illumination light is adjusted to a value suited for obtaining a desired optical trapping force.SOLUTION: An optical trapping device according to the present invention comprises: a light source; a beam diameter adjusting optical system for adjusting the beam diameter of the light from the light source; an objective lens for projecting the beam diameter-adjusted light onto a sample; a storage device which stores beam diameter information indicating the value of a beam diameter which gives an optical trapping force with respect to combinations of sample sizes and the number of apertures of the objective lens; and a processor which refers to the beam diameter information stored in the storage device to acquire the value of a beam diameter corresponding to a combination of the sample size of the sample to be trapped and the number of apertures of the objective lens used in the optical trapping device, and controls the beam diameter adjusting optical system to adjust the light beam diameter to the acquired beam diameter.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 4
