Abstract:
To provide a combustion chamber structure for an engine, capable of actualizing high-speed homogeneous combustion in a whole combustion chamber while suppressing the generation of preignition even in the operation in a high-load operation region.SOLUTION: An injector 18 is constructed to inject fuel toward at least a +X side (an exhaust port side). A spark plug 17 has an ignition part 17A arranged on a -X side (an intake port side). A virtual line LSP is drawn passing through the ignition part 17A of the spark plug 17 and extending in a Z direction. When a piston 5 is at a compression top dead center, the combustion chamber volume of an area (the area pointed by an arrow head B) on the -X side further than the virtual line LSP is smaller than the combustion chamber volume of an area (the area pointed by an arrow head A) on the +X side further than the virtual line LSP. Thus, on the -X side (the intake port side) of the combustion chamber, a reverse squish flow generation part is formed.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 9
