Abstract:
To provide a reliable optical device capable of precisely measuring and comprehending a gap even when the gap between optical waveguides is small without being influenced from production error.SOLUTION: The optical device comprises: a first optical waveguide 12 having a first end face 12A; and a second optical waveguide 14 which has a second end face 14A in which a gap G is formed by the second end face 14A and the first end face 12A. The first optical waveguide 12 has a first portion 12b and a second portion 12c, at a portion of the first end surface 12A opposing the second end surface 14A, each having a different distance larger than the gap G being spaced apart from the second end surface 14A.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
