Abstract:
To provide a high-strength steel wire of a hypereutectoid composition, the steel wire having excellent strength and ductility.SOLUTION: A high-strength steel wire comprises, in mass%, C: 0.90-1.10%, Si: more than 0.40% to 0.80% or less, Mn: 0.10-0.70%, and Cr: 0.10-0.40%, with Al: 0.003% or less, P: 0.020% or less, and S: 0.010% or less, and [Si+Cr] of 0.50-0.90% and [Cr+Mn] of 0.40-0.80%, with the balance being Fe and inevitable impurities. The steel wire has a wire diameter of 0.05-0.30 mm. The steel wire has a plurality of exothermic peaks in the temperature range of 100-450°C in a DSC curve of differential scanning calorimetry. The sum of calorific values Hin the temperature range of 100-450°C and calorific values Hin the temperature range of 280-420°C satisfy the following formulae (3): H/H<0.45.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
