Abstract:
To make it possible to secure image quality, while extending an estimated life of a consumable used for an image forming apparatus.SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus comprises: a determination device that determines an amount of operation of a consumable member; a measuring device that measures a physical property value of the consumable member changing with an increase in the operation amount; a storage unit that stores a history of image formation performed by the image forming apparatus; and a control unit. The control unit estimates a tolerance against occurrence of an image defect in an image formed by the image forming apparatus on the basis of the history, when the tolerance is larger than a predetermined threshold, determines whether or not a life of the consumable member has been reached on the basis of the physical property value, and when the tolerance is equal to or less than the predetermined threshold, determines whether or not the life of the consumable member has been reached on the basis of the operation amount.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3
