Abstract:
To provide an electrosurgical apparatus for delivering RF and/or microwave frequency energy into a biological tissue.SOLUTION: An electrosurgical instrument 234 for applying to biological tissue, RF electromagnetic energy and/or microwave frequency EM energy, comprises an instrument tip including a protective cover 222 with a contour smoothly facing away from a planar body, where an underside of the planar body extends beyond the protective cover at a tapering distal edge. Also disclosed herein is an interface joint for integrating into a single cable assembly, all of a fluid feed, a needle movement mechanism, and an energy feed such as a coaxial cable; and a torque transfer device for permitting controlled rotation of the cable assembly within an instrument channel of an endoscope.
