Abstract:
To provide a cooling device of an internal combustion engine capable of properly driving a regulating valve.SOLUTION: A cooling device of an internal combustion engine is applied to the internal combustion engine including a water jacket configuring a cooling water passage formed on an engine main body of the internal combustion engine to cool the engine main body, a cooling water pump for supplying the cooling water to the water jacket, and a regulating valve having a hollow housing, a valve element disposed inside of the housing, and a gear connected to the valve element to relatively rotate the valve element to the housing, and regulating a flow rate of the cooling water discharged from the water jacket by rotating the gear by a motor. The cooling device of the internal combustion engine calculates drive stress of the regulating valve by integrating an estimation value of stress generated on the regulating valve by rotational drive of the valve element, and output of the motor in driving the regulating valve is reduced when the drive stress is larger, in comparison with a case when the drive stress is small.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 7
