Abstract:
To provide a magnetic ink character recognition apparatus and program configured to improve character recognition rate.SOLUTION: A magnetic ink character recognition apparatus includes: a magnetic head; conveyance means of relatively conveying a medium with a magnetic ink character printed thereon with respect to the magnetic head; acquisition means of acquiring a magnetic detection signal read in the magnetic head; extraction means of extracting waveform data of the magnetic ink character from the magnetic detection signal; a first calculation means of comparing the waveform data extracted by the extraction means with reference waveform data, on the basis of storage means storing reference waveform data of characters, to calculate similarities between the data; second calculation means of comparing the waveform data extracted by the extraction means with extended waveform data obtained by compressing or expanding a length in time-axis direction of the reference waveform data in accordance with the change in the amount of the medium conveyed, to calculate similarities between the data; and recognition means of recognizing the magnetic ink character of the waveform data extracted by the extraction means, on the basis of the similarities calculated by the first and second calculation means.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 5
