Abstract:
To provide an airbag for a steering wheel, which is able to protect a driver smoothly with a simple configuration.SOLUTION: An airbag 20 for a steering wheel expands so as to cover an upper surface side of a ring part R of a steering wheel W. The airbag has a bag form by joining respective outer peripheral edges of a vehicle-body-side wall part 23 and a driver-side wall part 34 each other so as to substantially match an external form. An inflow opening whose peripheral edge can be attached to a steering wheel side is disposed near the center of the vehicle-body-side wall part so as to be opened to cause an expansion gas to flow inside. On a vehicle-body-side wall part side, an upward receding part 28 is formed, which will be located on a driver-side wall part side so as to allow entry of a rear-side area Rb of a ring part upon completion of expansion. The receding part is disposed so as to cause the ring part to enter inside when a driver MD is received by the airbag upon the completion of the expansion.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 10
