Abstract:
To provide an engine which can protect a fuel pump during a vehicle collision even if the fuel pump is disposed between an engine body and an intake system component.SOLUTION: An engine 1 includes: an engine body 2 including a cylinder head 10 and a cylinder block 12; an intake system component 4 attached to the engine body 2; a fuel pump 6 disposed between the engine body 2 and the intake system component 4 and including a pump body 26 and a pump housing 28 which is formed so as to enclose the pump body 26; and an auxiliary member 8 which is located adjacent to the fuel pump 6 and extends from the engine body 2 to the intake system component 4. The pump housing 28 and the auxiliary member 8 are disposed at positions such that the pump housing 28 and the auxiliary member 8 contact with the intake system component 4 at substantially the same time when the intake system component 4 receives a load from the outside to move in a direction such that the intake system component 4 comes close to the engine body 2.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3
