Abstract:
To provide an image reader in which downsizing in a vertical direction is realized.SOLUTION: An image reader 1 comprises a supply tray 91, a discharge tray 96, a transportation guide 30, a reading sensor 3S and a discharging unit 60. The supply tray 91 comprises a movable plate 50 configured to move from a first position to a second position as a response to reduction in sheets SH supported by the supply tray 91. A discharge guide is configured to comprises a discharge port 69 for discharging the sheets SH transported by the transportation guide 30 to the discharge tray 96 and to move from a third position to a fourth position as a response to reduction in the sheets SH supported by the supply tray 91. The image reader 1 further comprises a regulation surface 180 which is arranged between the transportation guide 30 and the movable plate 50 and capable of contacting to the sheets SH supported by the supply tray 91. The regulation surface 180 may upwardly move along with movement of the discharging unit 60 to the fourth position.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 10
