Abstract:
To provide an image forming apparatus that allows a user to appropriately remove a sheet getting stuck in a fixing device.SOLUTION: A compound machine 11 comprises a rotational motion mechanism 31. The rotational motion mechanism 31 includes: a paper jam release gear 32 that is provided with a second external tooth 34 and an internal tooth 35; inner diameter-side gears 46, 47 that are provided with third external teeth 48, 49 and arranged such that the internal tooth 35 and the third external teeth 48, 49 mesh with each other on an inner diameter-side of the paper jam release gear 32; a support part 33 that supports the paper jam release gear 32 provided such that a first external tooth 30 and the second external tooth 34 mesh with each other when a side cover 19 is open and the meshing of the first external tooth 30 with the second external tooth 34 is released when the side cover 19 is closed; and a piston mechanism 51 that can perform a linear reciprocating motion and rotates the inner diameter-side gears 46, 47 with the linear reciprocating motion. The rotational motion mechanism 31 converts the linear reciprocating motion into a rotational motion during the meshing of the first external tooth 30 with the second external tooth 34 to rotate the paper jam release gear 32 in one direction.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 6
