Abstract:
To avoid that a gas temperature in a cylinder is hardly lowered, in a compression self-ignition type internal combustion engine in which a thermal barrier film which is small in a thermal capacity per unit volume, and low in thermal conductivity.SOLUTION: A thermal barrier film M1 is formed over the whole area of a side face 20b. On the other hand, a thermal barrier film M2 is formed on the whole area of a bottom face 20c and an apex 12a. The thermal barrier films M1, M2 are mainly formed of porous alumina. A difference between the thermal barrier film M1 and the thermal barrier film M2 is a film thickness. The film thickness of the thermal barrier film M1 is 20 to 60 μm, and the film thickness of the thermal barrier film M2 is 60 to 150 μm.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
