Abstract:
To normalize the progress of reduction in thickness of a photoreceptor, while reducing the influence on productivity and charging quality.SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus 1 forming a latent image while rotating an image carrier 4 comprises: a charging member 5 that charges a portion of the image carrier 4 passing through a charging position P1 during the rotation; a sensor 35 that detects the value of a current Ic flowing in the charging member 5 when the charging member charges the image carrier 4; a potential adjustment member 51 that adjusts the surface potential of the image carrier 4 on the upstream side of the charging position P1; and a potential adjustment control unit 120 that controls the adjustment of the surface potential performed by the potential adjustment member 51 according to the detected value of the current Ic so that the value of the current Ic becomes a value within a set range.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
