Abstract:
To provide a heat exchanger assembly.SOLUTION: The invention provides an apparatus and method of forming a heat exchanger (12) including a thermally compliant material and geometry with a core (16) having a first set of flow passages (30) and a second set of flow passages (34) passing through the core (16). A first manifold (42) of high temperature and strength material defines a fluid inlet (60) for the first set of flow passages (30), and a second manifold (34) of high temperature and strength material defines a fluid inlet (70) for the second set of flow passages (34). At least one of the first and second manifolds (30, 34) can include an in-situ compliant portion (68) to provide compliance during thermal expansion of the heat exchanger (12).SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3
