Abstract:
To provide a magnetic pole position estimation device that can enhance a resolution for estimating the position of magnetic pole of a rotary electric machine.SOLUTION: Among multiple-phase coils of a rotary electric machine, a coil, the ends of which are connected to upper and lower arm switches without an electric current flowing into any of them, is named a non-connection coil, and a coil, the ends of which are connected to upper and lower arm switches with electric current flowing into either of them, is named a connection coil. An estimation device selects the connection coil and the non-connection coil composed of at least two different combinations from among the multiple phase coils. The estimation device also detects, with reference to the selected combinations, a first voltage that is a voltage of the non-connection coil when an electric current flows into the connection coil in a first direction, and a second voltage that is a voltage of the non-connection coil when an electric current flows into the connection coil in a second direction opposite to the first direction. The estimation device further estimates the position of magnetic pole θe based on the difference of the first and second voltages corresponding to each of the selected combinations.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
