Abstract:
To provide a holding material capable of sufficiently maintaining a function of holding a pollution control element in a high-temperature pollution control device.SOLUTION: A holding material is a mat-like holding material having an inorganic fiber material, and comprises a surface layer having inorganic colloid particles, and an internal region impregnated with the inorganic colloid particles and an organic binder and located inside the surface layer. In the surface layer, compared to the internal region, the inorganic colloid particles are present at a higher concentration, and the amount of the inorganic colloid particles in the internal region is within a range of 1 to 10 mass% based on the total mass of the holding material.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3
