Abstract:
To provide a catalyst for modifying a tar-containing gas for stably converting the tar-containing gas containing tar generated when carbonaceous raw material such as coal is heat decomposed, and hydrogen sulfide at high concentration, to a light chemical material such as methane, carbon monoxide, hydrogen, or the like, in the presence of catalyst, without using expensive platinum group, at high performance, while suppressing carbon deposition.SOLUTION: There is provided a catalyst for modifying a tar-containing gas represented by aNi bY cMg dAl eO, wherein a, b, c, d and e represent molar ratios, satisfy a+b+c+d=1, 0.01≤a≤0.5, 0.01≤b≤0.09, 0.35≤c≤0.47, and 0.35≤d≤0.55, e is a value with which oxygen and an electropositive element become electrically neutral, and having crystal phases of NiMgO, NiAlO, and MgAlO, and a crystal phase of YO.SELECTED DRAWING: None
