Abstract:
To provide a system for extracorporeal treatment of a patient's blood, in which system, an extracorporeal blood treatment device, such as a patient module in a heart-lung machine, is filled and vented without being attached to the patient.SOLUTION: Evaluation and control electronics include a control unit 302 that is adapted for venting from a blood transportation and treatment circuitry of the patient module after completion of filling the blood transportation and treatment circuitry and a reservoir of a patient module by automatically controlling at least a blood-supply pump drive of the control module and components of the patient module without human intervention after the system is connected a source of filling liquid and after the user of the system completes initial setting for filling and air venting.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 10a
