Abstract:
To provide a rotation braking device that is suitable for a brake use for stopping rotation inputted to one of an inner member and an outer member and for a brake use in which an angle of rotation of an outer member is small.SOLUTION: A rotation braking device includes a clutch mechanism 3 that transmits and cuts off rotation between an inner member 1 and an outer member 2, and a housing 4 accommodating the clutch mechanism 3. The clutch mechanism 3 has engagement elements 21 arranged to be movable between an engagement position and a neutral position by relative rotation of a holder 22 and includes an electromagnetic actuator 24 for controlling the relative rotation of the holder 22. An armature 33 whirl-stopped with respect to the holder 22 is attracted magnetically and directly by an electromagnet 34. The electromagnet 34 is whirl-stopped with respect to the housing 4. The outer member 2 is directly supported in a radial direction by the housing 4. The outer member 2 and the housing 4 have pairs of engagement parts 12, 13 which are engageable with each other to limit relative rotation therebetween.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
