Abstract:
To produce molded foam articles having a uniform foam state while suppressing weight variations in liquid crystal polyester molded foam articles.SOLUTION: A method for producing molded foam articles for continuously producing molded foam articles is provided, which includes continuously repeating the following step 1, step 2, step 3, and step 4 in this order. They are: step 1 of melting a resin composition comprising liquid crystal polyester; step 2 of introducing a foaming material made of a supercritical fluid that is non-reactive with the liquid crystal polyester in a supercritical state and is gaseous at a normal temperature and a normal pressure, by 0.1 pts.mass or more and 0.3 pts.mass or less with respect to 100 pts.mass of the liquid crystal polyester by use of an introduction device, and melting and kneading the mixture: step 3 of injecting the melt-kneaded resin composition into a mold; and step 4 of reducing at least either the pressure or the temperature of the foaming material to be below the critical point of the foaming material to foam the mixture. The liquid crystal polyester has a melt tension of 5 mN or more and 100 mN or less at a temperature higher by 20°C than the flow initiation temperature.SELECTED DRAWING: None
