Abstract:
To reduce NOx occluded in an occlusion reduction type NOx catalyst while suppressing the worsening of fuel economy.SOLUTION: An exhaust emission control device for an internal combustion engine for supplying reductant to a NOx catalyst at the time of deceleration or stop of a vehicle stops the supply of the reductant to the NOx catalyst when supplying the reductant to the NOx catalyst if the acceleration of the vehicle is predicted and the temperature of the NOx catalyst is equal to or lower than a predetermined temperature. Stopping supply of the reductant in advance of acceleration suppresses the stay of much reductant in the NOx catalyst during acceleration.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3
