Abstract:
To obtain an air blower comprising a synchronous induction motor and having high reliability at low cost.SOLUTION: An air blower comprises: a centrifugal blower 5 comprising a sirocco fan 3, a synchronous induction motor 2 that rotationally drives the sirocco fan 3, and a scroll casing 4 housing the sirocco fan 3; and a shielding mechanism that is installed on one of the suction side and the discharge side of the scroll casing 4, and shields airflow passing through the scroll casing 4 when the induction synchronous motor 2 is started, to allow the airflow to pass after being delayed from the start of the synchronous induction motor 2.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
