Abstract:
To provide a boot assembly for a constant velocity joint.SOLUTION: A boot assembly 18 for a joint 10 comprises a boot 46 and a boot covering pipe 44 coupled to the boot 46 at a connecting portion 52. The boot covering pipe 44 comprises a mounting portion 56 that comprises a flange having an inside surface and a retainer 62. The retainer 62 is connected to the flange at a first position and separated from the flange at a second position spaced from the first position. The retainer 62 comprises an inwardly-directed portion spaced from the first position, and the inwardly-directed portion between the first position and the midpoint of the retainer 62 is arranged closer to an axis 20 than the inside surface of the retainer 62. The inside surface of the retainer 62 is not at a constant angle with respect to the axis 20 along the length of the retainer 62.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
