Abstract:
To provide a control device for a compression ignition type engine capable of actualizing appropriate partial compression ignition combustion.SOLUTION: To cause the combustion of air-fuel mixture using partial compression ignition combustion while forming a G/F lean environment in a first operation region B11 and a second operation region B12 on the high load side beyond it where the air-fuel ratio in a cylinder is approximately equal to a theoretical air-fuel ratio and burnt gas resides in the cylinder, an intake variable mechanism 13a is controlled so that, in the first operation region B11, a valve opening timing IVO for an intake valve 11 is further advanced in a range on the advance side beyond an exhaust top dead center when an engine load is high than when it is low, and the intake variable mechanism 13a is controlled so that, in the second operation region B12, the valve opening timing IVO for the intake valve 11 is further delayed in a range on the advance side beyond the exhaust top dead center when an engine load is high than when it is low.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 14
